Linkwood 1956 | 25 Year Old Gordon & MacPhail Connoisseurs Choice
Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Gordon & MacPhail 750ml / 80 Proof
A lovely old Linkwood 1956 25-year-old Speyside single malt whisky released by Elgin indie bottlers Gordon & MacPhail in the early 1980s for their Connoisseurs Choice series, which was in its imperious brown label period at the time. Gordon & MacPhail have bottled only one other Linkwood 1956, which was a 60-year-old that appeared 35 years after this bottling in 2016.
This splendid old 25-year-old Linkwood 1956 has a beautiful deep chestnut colour that strongly suggests that some or all of the whisky has seen the inside of the legendary sherry casks G&M were employing at the time, and was bottled most likely in 1981 due to the age and the fact the labels still use the imperial 80 proof. The latter equates to 45.7%, so you know this lovely old sherried 1950s Linkwood will still have plenty of oomph.
