A single cask Sutherland 1990 35-year-old Highland single malt whisky released by indie bottlers Gleann Mor in 2026 as part of their Rare Find series.

This 35-year-old Sutherland 1990 was bottled without colouring or chill filtration from single cask 754, a refill hogshead cask that yielded just 99 bottles at an impressive natural cask strength of 49.2%.

Sutherland spans a large swathe of the unspoilt northern Highlands and was once ruled by the founder of Clynelish distillery: the hated Duke of Sutherland, a dastardly figure who during the infamous Highland Clearances brutally evicted 15,000 tenant crofters and farmers from their homesteads, often at gunpoint, in order to repurpose the land for sheep farming. 

This exceptional release displays the signature waxy notes of one of the area’s most revered distilleries. Perhaps you can guess which it is.

Tasting Notes

NOSE: The nose is refined and vibrant, opening with lush tropical fruits that mingle with a subtle cooling mint. Soft balms and gentle oils add depth and complexity, creating an inviting and layered aroma that hints at the richness to come.

PALATE: Full-bodied and richly textured, the palate is oily and mouthcoating, unfolding layers of ripe mango and pineapple alongside notes of worn leather and polished oak. Subtle earthy undertones and a hint of spice add to what is a deeply complex, contemplative malt.

FINISH: The finish is sophisticated and enduring, with juicy, bright fruits that gradually fade, leaving a subtle warmth and delicate sweetness. Hints of soft oak and gentle spice linger, creating a balanced and memorable conclusion.
