An old bottle of 35-year-old Port Ellen 1978 bottled without colouring or chill filtration for Diageo's Special Releases back in 2014. This was the penultimate PE Special Release from the beautiful 1978 vintage casks that also gave us the famous 2nd, 4th, and 6th Releases.

This 14th Release Port Ellen 1978 35-year-old came from a batch of refill American and European oak casks and was an edition of 2964 bottles at its remarkable natural cask strength of 56.5%. A hefty but beautiful dram, thick and oily in the mouth and bursting with tart citrus, rich vanilla, dried fruit, bandages, saline and seaweed, with a flinty mineral zing that keeps everything interesting.
