Mosstowie 1979-2020 | 40 Year Old Gordon & MacPhail 125th Anniversary Single Cask 20323
Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Gordon & MacPhail 70cl / 49.8%
An old bottle of single cask Mosstowie 1979 bottled as a 40-year-old in 2020 as part of Gordon & MacPhail's 125th Anniversary celebrations. This release was Cask 20323, the last cask of Mosstowie in Gordon & MacPhail's famous Elgin warehouses.
Mosstowie was an experimental single malt whisky made on Lomond stills at Miltonduff distillery between 1964-1981. This 40-year-old Mosstowie 1979 matured in a single refill sherry hogshead cask and was bottled without colouring or chill filtration at its natural cask strength of 49.8% and the good news is that it's a superb dram, a fitting send-off for G&M's final bottling of Mosstowie.

Tasting Notes
Official tasting Notes:
Colour:
Dark Gold
Aroma:
Fragrant vanilla pod and butterscotch aromas lead to candied peel and hedgerow blossom. Leather and stewed apple notes come to the fore alongside blackcurrant leaves.
Taste:
Flavours of black pepper complement spiced grapefruit and subtle sherry influences. Dark chocolate undertones develop accompanied by tart raspberries and strawberry liquorice.
Finish:
Long and medium-bodied with a hint of fresh mint leaves on the finish
