Mortlach 1978-2021 | 43 Year Old Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection Single Cask 992
Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Gordon & MacPhail 70cl / 50.4%
A single cask Mortlach 1978, bottled as a 43-year-old in 2021 without colouring or chill filtration by Gordon & MacPhail for their ultra-premium Private Collection.
This 1978 Mortlach 43-year-old came from a single refill American hogshead cask #992 that yielded just 96 bottles at an impressive cask strength of 50.4%. Mortlach are perhaps best known for their monstrous sherry casks, but the distillery's spirit is equally impressive 'naked' from refill casks like these. This will be wonderful.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Sweet poached pears and demerara sugar aromas complement roasted hazelnuts. Notes of dried banana lead to crystalised violets.
Palate: Rich tropical fruit flavours give way to subtle aniseed and milk chocolate. Cracked black pepper comes to the fore alongside Seville orange zest and mature oak.
Finish: A medium-bodied finish with toasted almonds and fresh red apples.
