Meikle Toir 5-year-old The Turbo is one of the highlights of the range of four peated Speyside single malt whiskies made at Billy Walker's Glenallachie distillery that were launched in autumn 2023.

All the Glenallachie Meikle Toir peated whiskies are pretty smoky, with the rest of the releases having a spirit phenolicity around 35ppm. Meikle Toir Turbo, however, is taken from the 'heart of the heart'  of the spirit run, isolating the most heavily-peated distillate to create a malt that's much smokier than the rest of the range, at around 70ppm.

Meikle Toir 5-year-old Turbo was matured in a mix of virgin oak and sherry casks and is bottled at 50% without colouring or chill filtration. This looks set to be one of the most exciting new smoky Speyside whiskies we've ever had.

Nose: Manuka honey, worn leather and chocolate, with toasted hazelnuts, sultanas and burnt orange peel.

Palate: Intense peat, honey and mocha, followed by smoked spices, roasted chestnuts and charred oak.
