A wonderful old litre bottle of Macallan 12-year-old Speyside single malt whisky. The vast majority of these Macallan 12-year-old editions were for overseas markets and it's almost certain that this litre edition was bottled for duty free / travel retail at some point in the 1980s. The whisky was likely distilled, therefore, in the early to mid 1970s.

This quality of sherry cask just doesn't exist these days. A luscious, aromatic, concentrated and complex dram that speaks of a long lost style of whisky making, these old Macallan 12-year-old official bottlings were always the smart drinker's pick of the distillery's core range during a period when the hype around Macallan was fully justified. A sumptuously rich, chewy, nutty, fruitcakey Macallan from the very top drawer.
