An old bottle of Glenmorangie 1963 23-year-old Oloroso sherry finish Highland single malt whisky. Widely regarded as one of the best Glenmorangies ever bottled, this 1987 special edition was supposedly the first Glenmorangie with a stated vintage and was also one of the first commercial whiskies ever to describe itself as a 'finish'.
Glenmorangie 1963 matured for 23 years in the distillery's standard bourbon casks before being reracked for a final year in Oloroso sherry casks and was a small batch bottled at 43%. The resulting whisky is waxy, hugely fruity, complex and extremely beautiful. A classic Glenmorangie that deserves its immense reputation, and one of the most significant official bottlings of the 1980s.
