Loch Lomond 12 Year Old
Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 46%
Loch Lomond 12-year-old is the experimental distillery's flagship single malt release: a mix of the distillery's three main individual styles of whisky.
This vatting includes two Lomond-distilled spirits: light, fruity unpeated Inchmurrin single malt and smoky, spicy, heavily-peated Inchmoan single malt.
The Inchmurrin and Inchmoan are blended with the unpeated Loch Lomond single malt spirit style made on the distillery's traditional pot stills to create this Loch Lomond 12-year-old.
The result is just as you might expect and hope for: a medium-peated whisky combining sweet fruitiness with a more robust spicy smokiness for an easy-drinking yet complex 12-year-old Highland single malt whisky.
We're loving Loch Lomond's new simplified (and let's face it, commercially sensible) approach to their bottlings, but hopefully that this doesn't spell the end for the distillery's other whiskies Croftengea, Craiglodge, Inchfad and Glen Douglas. We're sure they'll still crop up from indie bottlers from time to time.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Crisp green apple, ripe pear and refreshing citrus lemon with background notes of golden cereal.
Taste: Orchard fruits and lemon meringue. The deep fruity character of pear lead into citrus lemon, vanilla meringue and light biscuit sweetness.
Finish: Medium in length with gentle wood smoke and a lingering peaty tang.
