This Special Releases cask strength 12-year-old Lagavulin from 2008 would have been distilled in the mid to late 1990s and these earlyish Special Release editions are well-known among aficionados - indeed, Lagavulin 12-year-old has proven so popular that, at the time of writing, there have been Special Release versions every year since 2002. This edition weighs in at a chunky 56.4% natural cask strength and is a prime example, austere and beautiful with a mighty peaty punch.
