Isle Of Jura 8 Year Old 1970s
Island Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 26 2/3 Fl Ozs / 70 Proof
A lovely old bottle of Isle of Jura 8-year-old Island single malt whisky. These early Isle of Jura 8-year-old official bottlings released in the 1970s by then-owners Charles Mackinlay & Co. had the now-verboten term ‘Pure Malt’ on the label.
This Isle of Jura 8-year-old was one of the first modern official bottlings from Jura distillery, which had only begun production in 1963 after a six decade hiatus following the previous Jura distillery’s dismantling in 1901.
Quality from these early Jura official bottlings is consistently inconsistent, regrettably, in common with many of the small batch distillery bottlings of the day across the industry. The best versions exemplify the dirty old school oily, minerally, cereally Highland malt style from the 1960s & 1970s - perfect for fans of this style - but the batches were somewhat patchy and many editions are rather less successful.
