An old bottle of Highland Park 40-year-old, one of the best official 40-year-old whiskies Scotland has to offer and among the shiniest crown jewels in Highland Park's output this century.

This Highland Park 40-year-old was bottled in 2008 from refill casks at 48.3% and is a hugely complex dram, redolent with distillery character and oozing with massively satisfying nuanced power. This was the first 40-year-old Highland Park bottled after the millennium, and there have only been two subsequent editions, in 2016 and 2019. A dram for truly memorable moments.

Colour: Rich hues of russet copper.

Nose: Spicy and aromatic with a background of rich dark fruits, nutmeg, cinnamon, lemon zest and dark chocolate. The use of refill casks allows Highland Park's trademark smoke to be retained, even after 40 years in wood.

Palate: Beautiful balance of sweet toffee notes, dark chocolate, black cherries, honey, sun dried orange zest and aromatic heather peat smokiness.

Finish: Rich, long, elegant, smoky and surprisingly sweet. Lingers forever.
