Glenlochy 1980-2015 | 35 Year Old Signatory Vintage Cask 3232
Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Signatory Vintage 70cl / 51.1%
A 1980 Glenlochy 35-year-old bottled in 2015 by Signatory Vintage for their Rare Reserve Cask Strength Collection - and rare it certainly is.
Glenlochy closed in 1983 without ever having been officially bottled - the first and only distillery bottlings were a handful of Rare Malts Editions that appeared in the mid to late 1990s. Since 2008 only Gordon & MacPhail and Signatory have released any Glenlochy, and with the last bottlings having appeared in 2015 it seems that the last stocks might have been exhausted.
This Glenlochy 1980 was bottled without colouring or chill filtration by Signatory from a single hogshead cask at its natural strength of 51.1%, yielding a total of 218 bottles. A genuine piece of liquid history, it's really sad to think that casks from this hugely underrated lost distillery may no longer still exist.
