Glen Albyn 1978-2003 | 25 Year Old Signatory Vintage Single Cask 698
Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Signatory Vintage 70cl / 43%
A single cask 25-year-old Glen Albyn single malt scotch whisky bottled by Signatory Vintage without colouring. It was filled on the 22nd February 1978 into cask number 698, described only as 'oak' so probably a refill cask, and yielded 366 bottles at 43%. It was subsequently bottled over 25 years later on 29th October 2003.
Glen Albyn was a Highland single malt distillery in Inverness, Scotland, founded in 1846 and demolished in 1983. Situated on the Caledonian Canal, it was known for using Loch Ness water, D-shaped worm tubs, and Saladin box maltings.
Throughout most of its history, Glen Albyn was primarily produced for blending purposes, serving as a key component for various blended Scotch whiskies.
Consequently, there are very few official bottlings with examples from the 1960s and 1970s and the notable exception of the 1975 26-year-old Rare Malts edition bottled in 2002.
