Dufftown 1983-2002 | 18 Year Old Signatory Vintage Single Cask 8244
Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Signatory Vintage 70cl / 43%
A single cask 18-year-old Dufftown single malt scotch whisky bottled by Signatory Vintage without colouring. It was filled on the 29th June 1983 into cask number 8244, which was a sherry butt. It was subsequently bottled over 18 years later on 26th April 2002.
This whisky was produced under the ownership of Arthur Bell & Sons, who had owned the distillery since 1933.
Following the acquisition of Bell's in 1985, Diageo eventually inherited the distillery after the merger of Guinness and Distillers Company Ltd (DCL) to form United Distillers (later UDV) in the late 1980s.
As an interesting side note, this whisky was bottled the same year that neighbouring Pittyvaich distillery was demolished. Pittyvaich was located on the same site and operated as part of the Dufftown distillery; both sites predominately produced malt for the Bell’s blend.
