This extraordinarily dark 37-year-old Deanston 1974 was bottled to mark the opening of the Deanston Heritage centre in 2012. As you might have guessed, this 1974 Deanston is from sherry wood - a single Oloroso sherry butt, to be precise.

Bottled at its natural cask strength of 50.3% without colouring or chill filtration, this 37-year-old Deanston was the oldest ever official bottling from the distillery at the time of release - and one of the rarest, with just 102 bottles yielded from the cask. A landmark bottling for Deanston and a real treasure from an unsung distillery.

Nose: Rich and complex, fragrant, deep honeyed Oloroso aromas, beeswax, Christmas cask, dark chocolate, espresso coffee, old leather.

Palate: Well balanced, rich smooth and luxurious, dark chocolate coffee liqueurs, treacle toffee with a lovely gingery dryness.

Finish: Lightly spicy with coffee/chocolaty notes, satisfying and long. Delicious.
