Bowmore The Devil's Casks takes its name from a local Islay legend wherein the devil was discovered trying to hide in the town's famously cornerless parish church. The beast was chased by a congregation of god-fearing Ileachs down the main street and took refuge in the distillery's cellars, where he hid in a cask of whisky and subsequently escaped to the mainland on a steamer

This Bowmore 10-year-old Devil's Casks Batch 1 was a limited edition of 6000 bottles from a small batch of fresh first fill sherry casks released at its natural cask strength of 56.9% and was a roaring success, spawning two further batches in 2014 and 2015.
