Black Bowmore 1964 50-year-old Last Cask was the final bottling of the iconic Black Bowmore 1964 series and was released in 2016 in a launch that also served as a retirement party for Bowmore's legendary master distiller Eddie MacAffer, who had started work at the distillery in 1966.  

Despite the name, this Last Cask Black Bowmore 1964 was actually the product of the final two casks from the otherworldly batch of Williams & Humbert Oloroso sherry casks filled at Bowmore in November 1964.  In 2002, when the previous Black Bowmore edition was being assembled, it was discovered that Casks 3708 and 3714 were both rapidly losing volume to the angel's share, so their contents were amalgamated in a single cask - which was then promptly forgotten until being rediscovered during a stock check in 2014.

This final cask of Black Bowmore yielded a total of just 159 bottles at a nick-of-time 40.9% natural strength. A magnificent and fitting end to one of the greatest ever single distillery bottling series the whisky world will ever see.
