Uitvlugt (Port Morant) 1964-1997 | 32 Year Old Cadenhead's
Pot Still Demerara Rum
Bottled By: Cadenhead's 70cl / 72.1%
An old bottling of Uitvlugt 1964 vintage single cask rum made in Guyana on the legendary wooden double vat still from the old Port Mourant distillery (labelled here with the Jamaican spelling Port Morant), bottled as a 32-year-old by Cadenhead's in 1997 at its (literally) stunning cask strength of 72.1%. This is a holy grail bottling for rum fans.
Uitvlugt distillery was closed at the turn of the millennium just a few years before its remarkable rums became enormously popular, not dissimilar to the Karuizawa story in Japan which was happening at much the same time. Thankfully, the much-travelled Port Mourant wooden still is still running at its new home at Diamond distillery, the last surviving Demerara producer.
