Tormore 1988-2015 | 26 Year Old The Golden Cask CM226
Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: House of Macduff 70cl / 53.3%
Tormore is a relatively modern distillery (it began distillation in 1961) that has hitherto languished in obscurity as a producer of Speyside malt whisky for blending, and has been largely ignored for most of its life.
Nowadays, though, owners Pernod Ricard seem to be loosening the strings a little - as well as a handful of official bottlings, more indie releases have started coming through recently, and perhaps surprisingly many of them have been rather good and Tormore is experiencing an upswing in reputation.
This is a very interesting one - a relatively long-aged Tormore from the 1988 vintage, bottled as a 26-year-old from a single bourbon cask by House of Macduff for their Golden Cask series. 278 bottles were yielded at 53.3% - this is great value from a distillery that's one to watch.
