Released in late spring of 2022, the fifth and final batch of Teeling's immensely popular Renaissance Series is comprised of 18-year-old Irish single malt whiskey that started life in ex-bourbon casks before being transferred for a six-year secondary maturation in casks that previously held Calvados, an aged French apple brandy.

All the casks used for the various Teeling Renaissance whiskies - Rum, Muscat, Pineau de Charentes etc - have been perfect to bring out the natural tropical fruitiness of these Irish malt whiskeys, and Teeling Renaissance Batch 5 continues in this vein.

An exuberant summery dram, perfect at 46% - it's just a shame that this is the last one, but no doubt there's great new stuff in the pipeline.

Nose: Candied Apples, Cinnamon, Baked Pears, Fresh Mint.

Palate: Apple Pie, Golden Raisins, Pink Peppercorns, Jasmine.

Finish: Maple syrup, Dried cherries, Wood Tannins.
