An old bottle of Talisker 25-year-old Island single malt whisky bottled at full strength without chill filtration for Diageo's 2005 Special Releases. 

This 25-year-old Talisker was an edition of 15600 bottles from a large batch of refill casks and was released at its extremely hefty natural cask strength of 57.2%, equivalent to the old Imperial 100-proof. A drop of water is advisable, although these are still very drinkable at cask strength.

The 25-year-old and 30-year-old cask strength Taliskers released in the early years of this century were all absolutely superb and stand in a class of their own nowadays, unmatched since. The refill casks used for most of these batches were beautifully ferocious whiskies, with a fantastic combination of sweetness, dry smoke, citrus, sea air, herbal notes, minerally austerity, hot peppery spices and raw power. This is a genuinely fabulous whisky, though not for the fainthearted.
