A lovely dark, sherried Speyside single malt from Strathmill, one of Diageo's older but little-seen workhorse distilleries, the bulk of whose output goes to J&B blended Scotch whisky.
Strathmill is generally a light, grassy spirit, but this 2006 Strathmill 14-year-old has been gussied up by Signatory, who took a pair of refill butts and refilled them into a fresh sherry butt (Cask 3) for the last 11 months of its 14 year maturation, before bottling it at its mighty 61.1% cask strength.
