Stauning El Clásico is the third release in the Danish distillery's experimental Stauning Research Series, and is inspired by the classic Manhattan cocktail, which utilises rye whiskey and red vermouth.

Stauning El Clásico is made with the distillery's rye whisky, which has a 70/30 rye and barley mashbill. For Stauning El Clásico, the rye whisky is aged for 3-4 years in virgin American oak casks before being finished for a year in casks that formerly held Spanish red vermouth and bottled at an enticing 45.7%.

The result is a fruity, spicy Danish whisky that makes a great substitute for American whiskey in all manner of classic cocktails, but particularly Old Fashioneds and, of course, the Manhattan.

The nose is filled with the scent of apples, oranges and roasted caramel. The lips are meet with a sweet and piercing kiss of dried fruits and crushed pepper.

The warm aftertaste has bittersweet notes of vermouth that stays inside the body for a long time. An explosive and warm-blooded whisky with a spicy aftertaste.
