A bottle of St Lucia Distillers' 1931 Rum Batch 6, released in 2016. St Lucia's 1931 series of limited edition rums were first launched in 2011 to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Dennery distillery in Mabouya Valley in 1931. St Lucia Distillers was formed when Dennery's owners the Barnard family merged their interests with the Roseau distillery in the early 1970s.
Bottled at an easy-drinking 43%, this sixth edition of St. Lucia 1931 rum was first released by in 2016, 85 years after Mabouya was founded, and is a blend of 7-11 year old rums distilled on John Dore pot stills and a Coffey continuous still, with 60% of the blend being column still spirit, 30% from pot stills and the last 10% from a pot / column blend.
The 1931 brand was absorbed into the company's flagship Chairman's Reserve range after this sixth release in 2016, so this was the last of the stand-alone 1931 rums to be released, and is consequently highly sought after nowadays.
