Spirit of Yorkshire's Filey Bay Moscatel Sherry Cask English single malt whisky was assimilated into the English distillery's core range portfolio late in 2025 after a series of successful small batch releases. This updated ongoing core range edition has had its name tweaked from Moscatel Finish to Moscatel Sherry Cask and its bottling strength has been upped from the previous 46% to a boisterous 47.3%.
Bottled without colouring or chill filtration, Filey Bay Moscatel Sherry Cask is assembled from whiskies that have been either finished or full term matured in Spanish oak casks that previously held the delicious sweet sherry wine Moscatel.
The updated Filey Bay Moscatel Sherry Cask whisky is made in batches that undergo a fractional blending process using a solera-style system wherein half of each batch is retained and returned to the sherry casks for further maturation before subsequently becoming the start of the next batch - ensuring both consistency and increasing complexity.
The previous Filey Bay Moscatel Sherry Finish small batches were first introduced in 2020 and proved a big hit with whisky fans, picking up a Gold Medal at the World Whisky Masters. This punchy medium-weight English single malt whisky has delicious sweet exotic fruit flavours from the Moscatel.
