Speyburn 1977-1999 | 21 Year Old Single Cask 1862
Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 63.2%
A single cask Speyburn 1977 21-year-old Speyside single malt whisky, this was an official bottling released by the distillery in 1999 at full cask strength.
This 21-year-old Speyburn 1977 came from single cask 1862 and was one of a dozen or so excellent sister single cask 21-year-olds from the 1977 and 1978 vintages that were bottled by the distillery at the turn of the millennium. The cask type isn't stated, but cask 1862 was bottled at its massive natural cask strength of 63.2%.
These were typically spicy, waxy, herby Speyburns often showing a touch of hay and a thread of smoke along with rich, nutty flavours - if we had to guess we’d go with refill sherry casks for these, but that’s never been officially confirmed. A further handful of these 1977 casks were later bottled as 25-year-olds shortly after the turn of the millennium.
