Meikle Toir 5-year-old The Sherry One is a peated single malt whisky made by Billy Walker at his Glenallachie distillery in Speyside and was first released towards the end of 2023.

Meikle Toir - the name means 'big journey' - is very different from Glenallachie's normal unpeated whisky, but this particular edition has something in common with the distillery's normal output in that it was matured exclusively in sherrywood, in this case puncheon casks that previously held Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry.

Meikle Toir 5-year-old The Sherry One has a high spirit peat content of around 35ppm and was bottled at 48% without colouring or chill filtration. This youthful sherried dram will be a treat for peat fans and looks like very good value.

Nose: Cedarwood, cigar box, butterscotch and mocha, with orange peel, honey and plum jam.

Palate: Dark chocolate, smoked honey and mocha, with figs, treacle, burnt sugar and puffs of peat smoke.
