MacPhail's 50 Year Old Gordon & MacPhail Bottled 2024
Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Gordon & MacPhail 70cl / 46%
Appearing in summer 2024, MacPhail's 50-year-old Speyside single malt whisky is making a very welcome return to our shelves in some very fancy new packaging.
The previous iteration of this whisky appeared way back in 2016, so this is the first MacPhail's 50-year-old single malt from G&M to be bottled without colouring or chill filtration, and it's been bottled at the higher strength of 46%.
The malt itself is undisclosed, but it is a 50-year-old single malt from Speyside - the usual suspects in these cases are Macallan, Glenfarclas, Glen Grant, Glenlivet and Mortlach but theoretically it could just as easily be another distillery like Strathisla, Linkwood or Glenrothes, all of whose spirit is also well capable of this sort of long ageing in sherry casks. Whatever the source, this MacPhail's 50-year-old is nailed on to be a magnificent whisky.
