Macduff 2009-2021 | 12 Year Old Berry Bros & Rudd Single Cask 700443
Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Berry Bros & Rudd 70cl / 51.9%
A single hogshead of Macduff 2009, bottled as a 12-year-old by Berry Bros for their Spring 2022 outturn. Macduff spends its days providing quality Highland malt for the Dewar's blend; official single malt releases from owners Bacardi are labelled as Glen Deveron.
This 12-year-old Macduff 2009 from hogshead #700443 was bottled without colouring or chill filtration and yielded 261 bottles at its natural cask strength of 51.9%. Macduff is often quite heavily sherried, so it's great to see a more spirit-forward bottling, allowing the distillate's fresh, sweet fruity character to take centre stage.

Official Tasting Notes
Nose: This subtle Highlander initially offers charming aromas of malted barley and austere green fruits, as is often the way however a little time in the glass allows this whisky to open up and notes of manuka honey, lemon oil and cedar appear.
Palate: The distillate’s fruity character dominates the palate bringing orange, underripe peach, green wine gums and honeyed toast.
Finish: The finish shows waves of wood spice and a touch of vanilla.
Doug McIvor Says
“Creamy and attractively fruity with vanilla and citrus dancing well. The fruit is quite complex and retains sweetness. There are wonderful elements of summer fruits with a kiss of butterscotch. The oakiness is present but well in kilter. This is a nice and juicy dram with lots of luscious fruit throughout. It’s the definition of good length and balance!”
