An old bottle of the rare Macallan Estate Reserve Speyside single malt whisky, a limited edition Macallan that appeared in 2009 as part of the distillery’s 1824 Collection.

Macallan Estate Reserve was, as the name suggests, a tribute to the Macallan’s stunning grounds in Speyside and is distinguished from standard issue Macallans of the day by containing a proportion of whisky distilled using the estate’s own barley, by its lack of chill filtration and higher strength of 45.7%, and by its use of sherry hogshead casks, whose smaller size gives a greater surface area to spirit ratio during maturation, giving the whisky a deliciously intense sherried character.
