An old bottle of Macallan 1874 Replica Speyside single malt whisky. This was the first release in the distillery's now notorious Replica series, making its debut in 2002.

At the time of this release, Macallan had yet to discover / admit that the bottle - and, crucially, the whisky - that this replica was based on was a clever fake that the company had fallen for.

Bottled at a hearty 45%, this was the first of several Replica bottlings in a series that Macallan persevered with probably a little longer than they should have done in the circumstances. In the end, despite the reconstructed replica whiskies being very decent drams in their own right, the Replica series was eventually discontinued after a long campaign by whisky writers and the rest of the industry. Today the Macallan Replica bottles are sought-after collectors items with an intriguing back story.
