Loch Lomond Inchfad 13 Year Old | Darkness
Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Darkness 50cl / 50%
Inchfad is a rather interesting single malt whisky, not least because it's a 'lost' whisky from an active distillery.
To be clearer, Inchfad was a heavily-peated single malt whisky style made at experimental distillery Loch Lomond and had a brief life as an official bottling under the distillery's previous ownership. These days, though, the name Inchfad is only used internally at Loch Lomond for a type of blending spirit - official peated Loch Lomonds are now all designated as Inchmoan.
Nonetheless, it's nice to see that there's evidently still Inchfad out in the wild, as evidenced by this Darkness Inchfad 13-year-old which has undergone the company's Octave treatment - in this case, a secondary maturation in small Octave casks made from a Pedro Ximenez sherry butt. A combination of peat and sherry bottled at 50% - this should be fascinating stuff.
