This Symington’s Choice 27-year-old Linkwood 1997 came from single cask 20/4, a first fill Oloroso sherry hogshead bottled without colouring or chill filtration, yielding 340 bottles at its natural cask strength of 55.4% - much more generous than its sister cask 20/3, which coughed up only 132 bottles in the same outturn. Linkwood’s tight, clean, grassy spirit ages brilliantly in sherry casks and can continue developing for decades, so this 27-year-old will be a gem.
