A famous small batch Lagavulin 1977 25-year-old Islay single malt whisky bottled at full cask strength back in 2002 as part of what was only the second full tranche of Diageo's Special Releases. Lagavulin 1977 25-year-old came from a small batch of just 9000 bottles released at a very potent 57.2% natural cask strength.

At 25 years old, this Special Releases Lagavulin 1977 has dialled back the intense smokiness of younger expressions, allowing some atypically exotic fruity notes to appear on the palate alongside the more familiar Lagavulin creamy vanilla, citrus and brown sugar. These fruity notes are complemented by a very rich and noticeable sherry presence that persists through to the finish, where a gentle, sooty smoke lingers amid a strong spiciness.
