The 2022 edition of Kilchoman's wildly popular Oloroso sherry matured Loch Gorm single Islay malt has a broader age range than the previous edition.  While the 2021 Loch Gorm contained whiskies from 2011-2012 only, this 2022 edition is made up of 22 Oloroso sherry butts that were distilled between 2007-2013, giving an age range of between 8-14 years old.

Almost all of the casks used for this Loch Gorm were fresh Oloroso sherry butts, with just two refill casks in the assemblage, and as ever Kilchoman Loch Gorm 2022 has been bottled at 46% without colouring or chill filtration, so it goes without saying that this will be terrific stuff for fans of the Islay-Jerez peat'n'sherry combo that Kilchoman do so well.

Tasting Notes

Official Tasting Notes

Nose: Intense sweet pipe smoke, followed by waves of freshly cut strawberries and candied lemon peel. Lighter notes of Neroli (orange blossoms), soft toffee and cloves.

Palate: An initial note of dark chocolate and toasted walnuts, gentle tobacco smokiness, hints of caramel and dates accompanied by subtle warming peat smoke.

Finish: Long and evolving with cinnamon and liquorice wood, chocolate bitters and lingering earthy smoke.
