Kilchoman 2012-2021 | 8 Year Old Comparison Series Cask 726/2012
Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 55.4%
A very interesting concept release from Kilchoman, the Comparison series contrasts two casks of very different spirit: a standard heavily-peated malt from Port Ellen maltings and Kilchoman's medium-peated 100% Islay barley. These single cask whiskies were filled a week apart in 2012 and matured for 8 years in first fill bourbon barrels from Buffalo Trace before bottling on the same day in February 2021.
Cask 726/2012 is the heavily-peated 50ppm edition of Kilchoman's Comparison Series, made with Kilchoman's standard barley from Port Ellen maltings. Just 259 bottles were yielded from the cask at 55.4%.
Ideally, this should be tasted alongside its sister cask Kilchoman 2012 Cask 719/12, which was made with 20ppm 100% Islay barley. Taste the difference, Islay style.
