Kilchoman 2012-2021 | 8 Year Old Comparison Series Cask 719/2012
Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 55.7%
A very interesting concept release from Kilchoman, the Comparison series contrasts two casks of very different spirit: a medium-peated 100% Islay barley and Kilchoman's standard heavily-peated malt from Port Ellen maltings. These single cask whiskies were filled a week apart in 2012 and matured for 8 years in first fill bourbon barrels from Buffalo Trace before bottling on the same day in February 2021.
Cask 719/2012 is the Islay Barley edition of Kilchoman's Comparison Series, made with 100% Islay barley and medium-peated at 20ppm. Just 216 bottles were yielded from the cask at 55.7%.
Ideally, this should be tasted alongside its sister cask Kilchoman 2012 Cask 726/12, which was made with 50ppm barley from Port Ellen maltings. Taste the difference, Islay style.
