Kilchoman's hugely popular 100% Islay - made only with Islay barley - is now in its 11th edition, and its success is no surprise to anyone who's tasted it.

Kilchoman 100% Islay 11th Edition is made with Kilchoman's own farm barley (from various vintages between 2007 and 2011) which is floormalted at the distillery by hand and smoked with Islay peat before being distilled and laid down to mature in sherry and bourbon casks.

For this 11th edition of Kilchoman 100% Islay, 26 bourbon barrels and 7 Oloroso sherry butts were chosen, giving a 60/40 split between bourbon and sherry-matured whisky - a much higher proportion of sherry than the last couple of releases. The youngest cask used for this edition of 100% Islay was 9 years old, and the full batch yielded 12,000 bottles at 50%. With a phenolicity of 20ppm this is one of the lighter peated Kilchomans, and we're certain it's going to be delicious.

Tasting Notes

Intense floral sweetness gives way to layers of rich spices, plums, dates and leather, then grilled fruit, malt and vanilla with waves of clean fresh peat smoke and citrus sweetness on the finish.
