Inverleven 1986-2015 Gordon & MacPhail Rare Old RO/15/09
Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Gordon & MacPhail 70cl / 46%
A small batch Inverleven 1986 Lowland single malt whisky bottled in 2015 as a 28-year-old or 29-year-old by Gordon & MacPhail for their Rare Old range.
Inverleven was one of the least well-known of the dozens of distilleries that closed in the 1980s and 1990s. The distillery was located within the Dumbarton grain whisky complex on the outskirts of Glasgow and the vast majority of its spirit was blended away by owners Hiram Walker and, later, Allied Lyons, who closed Inverleven in 1991. Inverleven's pot stills live on today at Waterford distillery in Ireland.
This Inverleven 1986 was a limited edition of just 211 bottles released without chill filtration at a good drinking strength of 46%. A deliciously fruity dram with hints of chocolate and sweet patisserie spices.
