An old litre bottle of Hennessy VSOP Fine Champagne Cognac. This is the old tall bottle presentation with gold label, a short-lived iteration of this classic cognac that was produced between around 1977-1984, and as this is a litre bottle it was most likely produced for the duty free / travel retail market.

Hennessy introduced the VSOP classification in 1817 in response to a request from King George IV for a 'Very Superior Old Pale' cognac; since 1983 the VSOP designation has signified that the eaux-de-vie in the blend has been aged for at least four years, though for most producers this was an absolute minimum and many VSOPs contain far older brandies. This Hennessy VSOP is a Fine Champagne cognac, indicating that the eaux-de-vies are only from the prestigious Grande and Petite Champagne areas.
