Hakushu 18 Year Old
Single Malt Japanese Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 43%
An old bottle of the legendary Suntory Hakushu 18-year-old Japanese single malt whisky. Hakushu distillery was constructed in 1973, and can be thought of as the Balvenie to sister distillery Yamazaki's Glenfiddich: not quite as famous, but preferred by many whisky fans.
One of the reasons for the popularity of Hakushu Japanese malt whisky (particularly here in the West) is the fact that its whisky is peated - and, like rival Yoichi, the magical combination of Japanese meticulousness and traditional old-style whisky making produces a sensational whisky.
Hakushu 18-year-old was introduced in the mid-Noughties but has appeared only sporadically and in short supply since then as the Japanese whisky supply crisis squeezed stocks. Hopefully more stock of this brilliant whisky will soon be available to thirsty Japanese whisky fans.
