An old bottle of Glenmorangie Tusail, one of the more interesting items in the back catalogue of Glenmorangie's annual Private Edition series. Glenmorangie Tusail was released in 2014 with the gimmick that it was produced using 100% Maris Otter barley - a variety not widely used since before the 1960s - which was floor-malted in the traditional manner by Warminster Maltings.

Glenmorangie are often given a bit of a hard time for their commitment to some of the more modern techniques in whisky production. The positive view, though, is that they are also amongst the most experimental of the major players and more than happy to play around with very traditional techniques as well as the very modern ones as well. Bottled at a hearty 46%, Glenmorangie Tusail is a genuinely delicious and fascinating marriage of old and new production methodologies.
