It's fair to say that even committed malt whisky fans generally don't spend an awful lot of time thinking about Glenlossie, one of the most anonymous of Diageo's workhorse Speyside distilleries.

That's a bit of a shame, as there's nothing inherently uninteresting about Glenlossie's spirit - it's just that there's never been a Special Release or even a Rare Malt bottling that might make more people take an interest in its often rather lovely fruity, grassy, minerally style.

This gentle spirit always seems to compliment the wood its been aged in, so if you're a fan of wine-matured whiskies check out this 2009 Glenlossie 12-year-old from Carn Mor's Strictly Limited series, bottled in 2021 from Red Wine Barriques at 47.5%.
