Glen Spey 1989 | 21 Year Old Special Releases 2010
Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 50.4%
A 1989 Glen Spey 21-year-old bottled for Diageo's 2010 Special Releases in a small batch of 5844 bottles at its natural cask strength of 50.4%.
Glen Spey is a generally overlooked distillery, whose recent whisky output has been almost entirely reserved for the J&B blend. This 21-year-old Glen Spey 1989 matured in a mix of ex-bourbon and virgin oak casks and American oak casks seasoned with sherry. A very sweet, indulgent dram with rich fruits, brown sugar, honey and golden syrup notes, this was a standout dram from the 2010 Special Releases, outperforming several bigger names that year.
