A 19-year-old Girvan 2002 single grain whisky bottled in 2022 by Douglas Laing for their Old Particular range.

As one of Scotland's last working grain whisky distilleries, Girvan is a behemoth, but the majority of its production is used for owner William Grant's blends so indie bottlings like this are rare.

This Old Particular 2002 Girvan came from a single refill hogshead that yielded 230 bottles at 51.5%, and as a 19-year-old grain whisky has just reached the maturation stage where things start to get very interesting.

Nose: Treacle toffee and sponge pudding coupled with pineapple chunks.

Palate: Creamy with caramel and honey’d cereal balanced by a tangy fruit style.

Finish: Lingers with a vanilla’d oak quality plus peaches and dried fruits.
