The 2021 Classic Malts Distillers Edition Caol Ila is from the 2009 vintage, with a batch of (presumably ex-bourbon) casks reracked into wine casks that formerly held moscatel, a delightful sweet wine fortified like sherry.

The combination of peat and sherry sweetness can be tricky, but Caol Ila always seems to fare well. This Caol Ila 2009 Distillers Edition from the Classic Malts will show layers of cooked fruit sweetness on a base of Caol Ila's dry, smoky coastal character.
