A single cask 2008 Caol Ila bottled as a 15-year-old without colouring or chill filtration in 2023 by Alistair Walker Whisky Co. for their Infrequent Flyers series.

This 15-year-old Caol Ila 2008 was finished in a red wine cask that previously held a Premier Cru claret, and yielded 239 bottles at its natural cask strength of 51.2%. The combination of red wine and peated whisky can be tricky, but the Infrequent Flyers folk are past masters of knowing exactly when to bottle their drams - this should be delicious stuff.

Colour: Bright copper.

Nose: Peat is prominent, naturally, combined with exotic tobacco. Cooked fruits - banana and pineapple, foil-wrapped and toasted over and open fire. Excellent underlying notes of red plums.

Palate: Sweet phenols and earthy herbal notes interplay with blood orange and rich black grapes. Also, dark chocolate and French Brandy marzipan, with a hint of cracked black pepper.
