This 2011 Blair Athol 12-year-old came from Cask DL17761, a refill barrel that yielded 280 bottles at the Old Particular standard strength of 48.4% (equivalent to the old 85 proof). Blair Athol is more usually found in sherry casks, so it's always good fun to try a refill bourbon matured example like this.

Nose: Buttery and rich - stone fruits give way to baking spice and soft brown sugar.

Palate: Thick - creamy/syrup with tropical fruit style alongside barley and wood shavings.

Finish: Apricot jam lingers long with much of what has gone before.
