A 15-year-old Blair Athol from Atom Brands' sherry-fancying indie bottling offshoot Darkness, and as with all their releases this has been finished in ex-sherry octave casks, with the sherry in this instance being Oloroso.

This Darkness Blair Athol 15-year-old came from a micro batch of Oloroso octaves with a total outturn of just over 300 half-litre (50cl) bottles at a good drinking strength of 51.4%. Blair Athol and sherry is a classic match-up, and this looks like a peach for fans of high-quality sherried Speyside single malt whisky.

Palate: Sweet peppers, pineapple, caramel and honeyed nuts.

Finish: Wood spices, raspberry hard candy and long sherried fruitiness.
